The 10th anniversary of R & B singer Aaliyah’s death was remembered last month, after the star’s tragic death from when the plane she was travelling in crashed shortly after take-off from the runway in the Bahamas.
She had just wrapped the filming for her music video ‘Rock the Boat’
A huge loss to the music industry, Aaliyah left a legacy of inspired artists who all paid tribute to the star via Twitter.
One of her closest musical collaborators Missy Elliot tweeted: “Aaliyah til this very day u r still in Your own Lane! Ure music is Timeless! We miss u!” While fellow Aaliyah confidant Timbaland offered a simple, “#ripaaliyah miss you babygirl.”
Her music even influencing contemporary rap artist Drake, showing Aaliyah was truly on his mind writing “RIP Baby Girl…in my ear at every show letting me know the next move I should make. Love you.”
Forever loved and respected for what she brought to the music industry. Gone but never forgotten.
Rest in peace Aaliyah, 1979-2001.
